Privacy policy
When you call or text us, you trust us with your name, your contact information and sometimes photos of your building or your drawings. This page explains what we do with it, how long we keep it and how you can see it, correct it or have it deleted.
In short
- We use your information to answer you, prepare your estimate and do your work. Nothing else.
- We don’t sell it and we don’t use it for advertising.
- The site has no form and only counts your visits if you agree to it.
- You can ask at any time to see your information, correct it or have it deleted.
Who is responsible for your information
J.A. Maîtres Maçons inc. is responsible for the personal information it holds. The person in charge of protecting it is:
Antoine Rousselle, President
Email: Maconerie.rousselle@outlook.com
Phone: (438) 863-6404
Write to him with any question, request or complaint about your information.
What we collect and why
When you request an estimate
You reach us by phone or text message. You then give us your name, your phone number, the address of the work and, if you wish, photos of the building and your drawings. The site can prepare the wording of your text: it opens in your own messaging app and nothing goes through the site.
We use this to answer you, assess the work and give you an estimate. If you hire us, we also use it to plan and carry out the job and to invoice you. Photos and drawings are only used to assess and carry out the work.
When you visit the site
The site has no form: it doesn’t ask for your name or contact information. Like any website, the host records some technical data to run the site and protect it from attacks: IP address, browser type, page viewed, date and time. We don’t use it to identify you.
The site uses no advertising cookies and no social media pixels. Its fonts and scripts are hosted with it, so your browser doesn’t contact any other site during your visit, except the statistics tool if you accept it.
Visit statistics
Only if you click “Accept” in the banner at the bottom of the screen, the site counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics: pages viewed and number of visitors. According to Cloudflare, this tool collects no personal data about visitors. These numbers tell us whether the site helps people in the area find us. None of this is turned on until you accept.
Your choice is stored in your browser so we don’t ask again on every visit. It contains no information about you. You can change your mind at any time with the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page.
Who can see your information
At our company, only Antoine can see it: he is the one who answers the phone and receives text messages and photos.
Two service providers handle information on our behalf and are not allowed to use it for themselves:
- Cloudflare, which hosts the site and provides the statistics tool;
- Microsoft (Outlook), our email provider, if you email us.
These providers may store data outside Quebec, for example in the United States. These providers are large companies whose terms of service and privacy policies set out how they protect data. The site passes none of your personal information to them, unless you write to us by email.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information with anyone. We only share it without your consent where a law allows or requires it.
How long we keep it
- Estimate request that did not lead to work: 2 years after our last exchange.
- Client file (estimate, contract, invoices, job photos): 6 years after the work is finished, as required by tax laws.
- Visit statistics: six months at Cloudflare.
After that, the information is securely destroyed or made anonymous.
How we protect it
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only Antoine can access your information and paper files are stored safely.
If your information were lost, stolen or accessed without authorization and this created a risk of serious harm, we would promptly notify you and the Commission d’accès à l’information.
Your rights
At any time, you can:
- find out what information we hold about you and get a free copy. On request, the information you gave us is provided in a common digital format;
- have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep;
- withdraw your consent, for example if you no longer want us to call you. Without your contact information, we won’t be able to give you an estimate;
- find out who at our company can see your information and how long we keep it.
To exercise any of these rights, write to Antoine (contact information above). You will get a written answer within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity before sending you your information.
Making a complaint
If you believe we mishandled your information, write to Antoine and explain the situation. He will review your complaint and give you a written answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, or if a request to access or correct your information is refused or goes unanswered after 30 days, you can contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec: cai.gouv.qc.ca or 1 888 528-7741 (toll-free). After a refusal, you have 30 days to submit your request to the Commission.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version is posted on this page with its date. Important changes are also announced on the home page.
